Microalgae - a solution that’s not easy to see

Excess nutrients in nearshore marine environments is a growing problem.

Microalgae is a consumer of nitrogen, removing it from it’s harmful soluble form, transforming it into a solid, and breaking it down to the air we breathe, food for seagrasses, and more.

Our initiative supports the process in which microalgae brings balance to the system.

The Diatom Initiative

With experience in the bivalve industry, restoration, and partnerships that extend back to the Florida Net Fishing Ban in 1994, The Diatom Initiative is focused on the connection between filter-feeders and microalgae in the near-shore marine environment.
